Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-09

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of legaltoplain.com ("Service") operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME, e.g. "LegalToPlain LLC"] ("we," "us," "our"). By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. The Service

We provide AI-generated, plain-English summaries of legal documents you upload. The Service is a translation tool, not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice. See our Disclaimer.

2. Pricing & payments

3. Your obligations

You agree to:

4. Liability cap

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the Service (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).

We disclaim any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, or non-infringement. The Service is provided "as is."

5. Intellectual property

You retain ownership of the documents you upload. By uploading, you grant us a temporary, limited license to process the document through the Service for the sole purpose of producing your summary. We do not use your documents to train AI models. After the retention period (24 hours by default), the document is deleted.

The plain-English output we produce belongs to you. Our software, prompts, model fine-tuning, and brand do not.

6. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of your account at /account. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms or engage in abuse (multiple chargebacks, prompt-injection attempts, etc.).

7. Dispute resolution

For users in the United States: any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration administered by JAMS or the American Arbitration Association in [JURISDICTION, e.g. New York County, New York], in accordance with their Streamlined Arbitration Rules. You and we waive the right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative proceeding. Either of us may bring an individual action in small claims court for disputes within the scope of that court's jurisdiction.

For users in the European Union or the United Kingdom: the arbitration provisions above do not apply. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of [JURISDICTION] under [GOVERNING LAW] law, except where local consumer-protection law gives you the non-waivable right to bring suit in your country of residence.

8. AI-generated content disclaimer

Summaries, translations, red-flag analyses, and Q&A responses are generated by an AI model. They may be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on them as legal advice. Always read the original document and consult a qualified attorney for advice specific to your situation.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated by email and require re-acceptance via the consent gate before further use of the Service.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE, e.g. Delaware], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The arbitration clause above governs venue for US users.

11. Contact

For DMCA notices: /legal/dmca. For privacy requests: /legal/privacy. For abuse reports: /abuse. Otherwise, the /help page is the support surface.
